MILSA participants 2020

Lisa-Maria Staub

University of Bologna

I am studying history at the University of Bern. In spring semester 2020, I will be doing an exchange semester at the University of Bologna in Italy. This university was founded in 1088 and is considered to be the oldest university in the Western world. The rich history of the university itself and the city of Bologna in general sparked my interest and reinforced my wish to study abroad in Italy. My main goal is to improve my Italian language skills so that I can manage everyday life in Italy and attend some of my lectures in Italian. Furthermore, I am looking forward to experiencing the university life in Bologna and to getting to know the local culture

Anna Einsiedler

Yokohama National University

I am a third-year bachelor student studying business administration. Since I was a small child I wanted to study abroad. Now I have the opportunity to study at the Yokohama National University (YNU) in Japan. YNU has developed a special program for incoming students called JOY Program. In this program many different lectures are offered by different faculties, but always with a focus on Japan. This gives you the opportunity to gain a good understanding of Japan and its role in the international community. I am looking forward to learning Japanese and taking a calligraphy course during this half year. Furthermore, I also hope to be able to visit an Onsen (thermal bath), walk under the cherry trees and wear a Kimono. My personal goal for the spring semester 2020 abroad is to build new international friendships and experiencing Japanese culture first-hand.
